About М8Л8ТХ (M8L8TH)

M8L8TH (М8Л8ТХ) is a Russian underground metal band founded in 2002. Belonging to a youth organization, called Wotan Jugend, their lyrics are controversial, as they range from paganism, Ukrainian nationalism, pan-Europeanism and anti-communism to racial supremacism and anti-Semitism. Its theme has a Wotanist inspiration, at the same time it is based on legends of Pre-Christian Russia, national socialist texts such as Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf", as well as an amalgam of political proselytism that attacks primarily Zionism, liberalism and the political left. Where the whirlwinds from the bottomless depths intertwined with the solar wind of the mighty heavens, where the boundless expanses of the Russian land give birth to Heroes with the breath of forests, where the Hammer knocks out the thunderclaps of Aryan Thunder from the storm clouds, there, from the unknown that covers the ancient forests with mist, enters the last battle on earth, the battle for a place under the Sun, the war whose the image will freeze in eternity, - NSBM division "M8L8TH". The band, or division, was formed in Tver, in late 2002 by Aleksei Levkin (vocals) and Mikhail (bass), initially under a different name. The drummer of the band was Ivan, the leader of the Tver Black Metal act "Hagl". In the same year, the band's first demo was released, and in the summer the band gave their first live performances in their hometown, "breaking through the siege of the hatred of subhumans and the betrayals of apostates on the way to the Sacred Victory of the Truth of the Fathers". In the fall of 2003, a new member-stormtrooper joined the band, Pavel (guitar). In 2004, M8L8TH recorded and released his debut album "Чёрным Крылом (By the Wing of Black)" on the Stellar Winter label. Until 2006, the band continued to actively perform in Tver at local black metal festivals. The creation of the debut album was influenced by musical projects such as Burzum, Temnozor and the work of BlazeBirth. In a technical sense, Dissection was also influenced by the work of one of the guitarists of the M8L8TH. In 2005, the band recorded the live album "Штурм (Sturm)", released in 2006 on the Lost Reich label in an edition of 88 copies. In 2006, Aleksei Levkin was arrested in the Tver Group case and charged with armed assault, being held in custody for more than 20 months. Among other charges, the leader of M8L8TH was charged with three murders of foreigners and one attempt on the grounds of national intolerance, which the investigation eventually failed to prove. The criminal proceedings stopped the group's activities for a long time. There are also some changes in the band's line-up: firstly, Aleksei's place is temporarily occupied by Ivan Swarm, a session vocalist, with whom the leader is very pleased; secondly, Ivan (drums) left the band for inconsistency with the ideology of M8L8TH. Along with him, one of its founders, bass guitarist Mikhail, also left the band. In 2008, M8L8TH, together with the Nezhegol group, formed the creative and ideological Union WotanJugend, which by the time of 2025 had grown to a large paramilitary organization operating in Ukraine and popular among caring youth throughout Europe. Since 2008, it has included the bands M8L8TH, Nezhegol, Orchid, The Tower Of The Ice Ravens, Whisper of Runes, Норма Реакции, labels Lost Reich, Valgriind and Last Divis18n. In 2009, after the release of the album "Непоколебимая Вера (Unbreakable Faith)" on the Russian label Stellar Winter Records, after a while the band began recording a split album together with the band Nezhegol. During the recording of the new album, M8L8TH used a session drummer, and the vocals were recorded by two people who had not previously participated in this project. In the track "Guardian Of The Forest", the vocals were recorded by a person from the WotanJugend circle. The rest of the songs were recorded in the same composition as on the album "Unbreakable Faith". In Split, the band Nezhegol was expanded thanks to the M8L8TH musicians, a session drummer and a female keyboard player. In 2010, Lost Reich Records released the compilation "Scent of Blood (demo 2003/live demo 2003)". The release included a demo from 2003 and a recording of their rehearsal. In 2011, after constant postponements of the release date, the split album "Wotan Jugend" was released on the Russian label Lost Reich Records. M8L8TH presented four songs: two replayed ("Echo of Future War" and "Guardian Of The Forest"), and two completely new ("Flame of Wounds and Blood" and "The White Wolf's Hammer"). Nezhegol had four tracks in his new work, which were re-recorded with the participation of the M8L8TH musicians. The collaboration of the groups was a cover of the song by the Ukrainian band Sokyra Peruna "We Are with You, Brother!". In 2012, M8L8TH resumed concert activities. In 2013, the self-titled single "Слёзы Осени (Tears of Autumn)" was released, recorded together with the band Nezhegol. On November 21 of the same year, the third full-length album "Сага о чёрном марше (The Black March Saga)" was released with a circulation of 1,000 copies. In 2015, the group's leader Aleksei left the Russian Federation due to harassment by the authorities and moved to Ukraine, where he continued the project's activities with a new line-up. After the two singles "Шторм Над Азовом (Storm Over Azov)" (2016) and "L.A.H. (Luciferian Aesthetics of Herrschaft)" (2017), in 2018 M8L8TH released the mini album "Удар Милосердия (Coup de Grâce)" (collaboration with the leader of the French band Peste Noire) and the fourth full-length album "Reconquista (Militant Black Metal)" what consists seven tracks on his own label Militant Zone. In the same year, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow authorized the arrest in absentia of the band's vocalist, Aleksei Levkin, in a case of extremism and incitement to hatred or enmity. In 2020, in an experimental style for themselves, the band releases the single and track "Бросок-Атака! (Onslaught!)", based on the track "Мой Одаль" and lyrics by Boris Kaldrad (Branikald), as well as "Did-Dub-Snop", a cover of the track by the band Temnozor. In the same year, the single and track "Teorassologie" were released, as well as a mini-album of the same name, published with a booklet and poster in A3 format. After the release in 2021 of the 2011 reissue of the track "By the White Wolf's Hammer" with re-recorded vocals, in 2022 the band releases the live album "Libations of the Black Wing". The release is a recording of the band's anniversary concert with the program "By the Wing of Black", played in the correct order on the 15th anniversary of the band in 2019 on the stage of ASGARDSREI. The video sequence was mixed with the corresponding footage of the 2004 M8L8TH concert. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the group has participated in combat operations on the side of Ukraine. In particular, Aleksei Levkin fought in the Azov regiment before the invasion, and as of 2025 he is fighting in the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC). In 2022, the band released the track "Чёрная Могила (The Black Grave)" for the upcoming single of the same name. In the same year, the track "AzovStahl" was released, dedicated to the heroic defense of Mariupol and Azovstal in particular. The track is a re-recording of the song "Storm over Azov" from the 2018 album Reconquista in Ukrainian. In July 2023, the band presented their fifth full-length album "Nekrokrator", released in an exclusive stone box, and in the same year a single was released with a cover of the track "White Thunder Roars" by the band Temnozor, whose leader passed away in September 2023. In December 2024, a three-song split album "‎WotanJugend 2.0" was released, recorded with Nezhegol. The band is constantly banned and deprived of the opportunity to publish their tracks on popular music venues, so their music can also be found under other band names: M8, M8L8TH / Moloth, М8Л8ТХ / Молотх.
