About Икс Игрек
“It was, like, something about the beginning of march, 2008. I was a rare sloven, wasn't studying, wasn't working, lived either at my friends' or stayed for an overnight at my parents’. Who were, of course, not so fond of that, since they were not accepting my lifestyle. Once I met a friend, who told me that in a very perspective place in Moscow emerged a squat. That's how I got to "Piglets". And it was the place where I met Fly and Anja. Actually, after a couple of hangouts I came to a realization that this was, partially, what I do aimed for at those times. Not a bomb hideout, not a pissed basement or roof space - this was the first building in Moscow that suited us for making a squat at. In fact, we settled there, and almost all our free time was spent on equipping our home and promoting anacrho-ideas (making stencils for bombing the streets, banners for actions, stickers, patches, etc.) As it turned out, Fly and Anja were playing in Iks Igrek, out of which I only knew Kosmos by that time. Right a couple of days preceding our meeting they played at a gender festival, it was very cool. There was no serious attitude to the band, so long as it was born rather spontaneously. A week, maybe, or two before the festival, it emerged that it was short of groups, so Fly, then, proposed Anja and Kosmos to perform with only one song. Actually, it turned out pretty well. Life in the squat was delightful. Rat struggle, occasional unwanted visitors like children or perverted old men with hookers, workmen, local mobsters on the squats’ territory – all as it is meant to be…candle-lighted nights, vegan grub, punk-style booze, walls written all over - everything gave some kind of harmony, atmosphere, that something that was making us move on further, not thinking of stopping…That kinda stuff. At that time Fly became fascinated by the idea of going on further and keeping on playing. To complete the sound the second guitar was needed, and Fly proposed me to play. Right about that time V3aunus was coming, the gig the band was also scheduled to play. It was clear that we shouldn’t end on having a show that spans ten minutes, so it was decided to seriously work on the band. Before the first show organizer asked how will the band be named, so Oleg said, just to be left alone: “Well…write it simply Iks Igrek and chill” The title still wasn’t chosen in the end, so Iks Igrek was left behind the thousand conjectures. By the way, the band is 100% vegetarian, 50% vegan. 29th of May a concert was organized in Krasnogorsk, the last at that time. After that everybody went to different camps and cities for summer. The future of “Piglets” was determined. It was our mistake, our sincere faith in anarchism, in conscientiousness of our “aharcho-movement”. As it was told us by our friend from France, William, squats there are either highly involved in activities, or turned into a den, a place, where one can get shit-faced or high. For our always-open doors for guests, when all squatters, active at that time, went away, the squat turned from first French version into the second (the irony of this is evident for everyone), which led into troubles with cops and a local house-owner. The squat was abandoned. Drummer girl left the band, and only the following autumn we got together and invited Vladik to fill the drum spot. We were quick on organizing a gig with Мёрдер(Murder) in Nemchinovka, where administration and cops killed the lights for us, and went on with the band quiet seriously this time. Performed in Tula, where our music was confused by torn strings on one of the guitars. So, actually, news gigs and recoding of a new album are being planned.”
