About Østerdalsmusikk

In 1975 trombone player Torgrim Sollid gathered some of the best musicians of the day and made Norwegian music history with the recording ”Østerdalsmusikk”. ”Østerdalsmusikk” is based on Norwegian folk music from an area of Norway called Østerdalen. Torgrim Sollid gave this music a new and modern sound. Musicians such as Knut Riisnæs and Jan Gabarek played on the original recording, and this record has since achieved cult status in Norway. Some of today’s most prominent musicians from the geografic area in question, take part in the revival project.
