See Spider John Koerner____________________________________________ John Koerner (born in Rochester, N.Y., Aug. 31, 1938; died 18 May 2024) was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He performed American traditional blues and folk music from the late 1950s. In the 1960s, he performed with Koerner, (Dave) Ray and (Tony) Glover and covered early black blues artists with guitar, strong vocals and a thumping heel on the floor. His music spanned jug band, psychedelic R&B, Hoagy Carmichael, Louisiana sounds, according to his website. He lived in Minneapolis and continued touring. Later albums explored such traditional American songs as Froggie went a courtin'. He performed with the likes of Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, and more.
