Representing the whiter, blonder side of the infamous Teenage Galaxy, French Navy's music is surprisingly sweet and sentimental. Being notorious for playing shows after copious shots of Sailor Jerry's and being the mastermind of songs such as "FAFSA Suck My Dick!" critcs and friends alike were taken aback at the release of her first EP "Life on Sodie". Following in the footsteps of later day Beatles, French Navy doesn't tour and never plays live shows. What many do not know is that this is not due to the complexity of her ukelele work or vocal hamonizing but rather that she is simply too embarassed. In fact, her music isn't even available for free download on myspace (she makes you pay for it) and isn't available on last.fm, you have to go to this link to find her songs http://www.myspace.com/myfrenchnavy . It was only after limited release to a few, but very important, close friends that her music became exposed online and she gained a cult following. Her single "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" currently has 44 plays and in August '10 it peaked at 3 plays in one day. Her influences range from Mississippi John Hurt to Chocolate Almond Milk but her sound has been described by some critics as a 'Hawaiin Nouvelle Vague' or as a 'Preschool girl left in a room with a ukelele and a microphone during nap time'. French Navy currently resides in sunny Santa Cruz, CA where she spends her free time drinking soda, watching Justin Beiber videos, and forcing people to dance. She plans on releasing her much anticipated full length sometime this fall and has hinted at some drastic stylistic changes. Rumors ranging from falsettos, beat boxing, and acapella covers of 50 Cent songs have been floating around the blogosphere.
