About underground freelancer

#UGFL/@UGFL (for all you twitter fans) has been in to music his whole life. He got his first guitar at age 3/4, a second hand, steel strung classical guitar in dark red and black. It wasn’t until age 7 though, that he began guitar lessons when a teacher named Mr. Packwood joined the teaching staff and started giving lessons. For 4 years, he taught UGFL a mixture of folk, rock ‘n’ roll and a variety of popular music. At the same time, his granddad’s best friends’ son, was also giving him lessons and educating him in all things ROCK! -teaching him Guns & Roses songs and anything else he found interesting in the various guitar magazines. When he moved to high school then to college, having already developed a love for guitar based music at an early age, UGFL continued to build on this, learning heavier tracks and listening to heavier music. – In high school, he was a social outcast, preferring to listen to or play music than take part in football or rugby. He and his friends would spend hours talking about bands they liked to watch or gigs they’d been to. For years, he would only want to hear rock music/metal… but, as UGFL grew older and discovered more and more that technology is a huge part of the music industry and can be used to gain an advantage, it made him appreciate the work that goes in to producing electronic music or, as most people would call it, DANCE MUSIC. Which brings me to now. Knowing what he knows now, UGFL fully understands that there are hundreds of sub genres within dance music and each one has its followers, fans, fanatics and opposers. One thumping kick drum pattern won’t do for all dance music fans. Chart dance music fans, probably won’t like harder genres such as Gabba ( a popular style in parts of Europe that has quite a violent, distorted sound) and vice versa. UGFL has a love for making music via electronic mediums and using his iphone as a starting point for quite a lot of musical ideas. Using this method means he is able to produce music quicker than if he were to work with a band as the only person he has to rely on is himself. The man himself has been writing music as #UGFL for almost 10 years now. Starting when he was in college and still writing using standard instruments with the odd sample thrown in for experimentation. UGFL's set-up currently consists of: NI : Maschine NI : iMaschine (iphone) Nanostudio (iphone) Akai MiniAK synth Akai S2000 rack-mount sampler Ableton Live 8 Suite via Mac. listen, enjoy and share with your friends and colleagues.
