About Wang Huiran

Wang Huiran (王惠然, born 1936, Shanghai) — Pipa/liuqín master and prolific composer whose showpieces (notably “Dance of the Yi People”) helped define the modern solo pipa canon from the 1960s onward. A touring soloist since the 1950s, he also shaped pedagogy and ensemble writing for China’s plucked-string family.
