Since releasing his first song in 2011, American R&B singer and songwriter, Troy D, has reigned on indy charts, performed in nightclubs and festivals across the globe, and has been nominated and awarded in the USA and Asia for his genre-jumping sounds and electric live performances. The recent 2013 VIMA Award nominee is back with a new mini-album. Troy D's newest release, "DTension," (June 2013), is front loaded with dance floor smashes and electronic love sounds, inspired by his bold move to Singapore where music comes in a world of styles. The leading single, "The Night," w/ Bassrock Remix debuted at No.10 and peaked at No. 2 on USA EDM Charts (EDM Network). The colorful lyrics and driving productions are centered around 'holding on and letting go,' with collaborations from DJ ShawT from Canada and DJ Freek van Workum Netherlands. The mini-album wouldn't be complete without two rap features and the smashing remixes from Seattle-native, Bassrock. Troy D launched his music career after graduating in Chicago and spending time in the 9-5 scene. It wasn't until then that he started auditioning and competing in music endeavors in his free time, tapping into this almost-forgotten talent. In 2010, he was crowned the winner of Chicago's Road to Fame, the winner of ESPN's Star-Spangled Sing-off, eventually opening a Chicago White Sox game with the National Anthem. Stirring a buzz in the local music scene, and eager to step into the music scene the over-achiever tested the waters. Just two months after releasing the 2011 ep, the rising star was in top spots on Vancouver, Canada's AMAHits, for over 13 consecutive weeks. Troy D was nominated at the 2012 Chicago Music Awards as an Emerging Star with his single, "Star." In February 2012, he had the chance to perform "Bottom of my Heart," live on Chicago's CAN TV, which recently pulled in a nomination at the 2013 VIMA Music Awards in Asia for "Best Pop Song." Eager to be heard, Troy D organized shows early in his career, booking performances in some of the hottest night clubs in L.A., Las Vegas, and Atlanta, and with sponsers such as Bud Light, at the worlds largest music and food festival, The Taste of Chicago. He earned some of the top performing slots in other large music festivals such as, Chi-Live, Scorcher Fest-Australia, Interfusion Music Summit shortly thereafter. Full of charisma, energy, and charm, he leveraged his ep and booked his first modeling appearance through Men's Wearhouse, where his idyllic-blissful style and inviting personality shined to his advantage. Troy D strives to keep his music and life connected to world events. The singer's run more than one 26-mile marathon in support of raising awareness to real-world issues. Energetic and youthful, there's not doubt the singer has a keen sense of business. His newest endeavor, DTension, represents his bold move to Singapore, and his firm believe that you should keep your hands in your destiny and create memorable experiences on your journey.
