About The Sonitus Revolution
The Sonitus Revolution spawned out of the stagnant, stale flesh of the LI music scene. Fed up with all the crap eminating from the radio and the local bars, Jason Briggs, of The Mudsharks and Chris Dimaio decided to form a band in early 2005. It just so happens that a band by the name of WhoCares was breaking up at the same time as the Revolution was forming, and so Will Forthman, lead vox of WhoCares became Sonitus manager and WhoCares drummer Adam Clark became the rhythm behind the Revolution. In November 2005, An indie label called Wrong Island Records signed the band to their label. Together TSR and Wrong Island put on many shows in efforts to destroy the pay-to-play format on Long Island. In February 2006, Clark left the band and was replaced by Lance "Lentro" Weisburg. The band continued to play before Dimaio and Weisburg ultimatly leaving the band in May of 2006. Briggs continued playing solo shows and eventually, multi-instrumentalist Brian "Bdee" Donaldson joined on Bass and Frank Federici jumped behind the drum kit to finish up the remainder of TSR's shows in 2006. In November, TSR released a live split album on Wrong Island entitled "Draft Beer, Not Students" Live 2006. In 2007, the band went on a hiatus while Briggs joined centerpiece Wrong Island act, Grrrl Friend, and performing in many side projects, including Bionic Senses, Long Island Drone Orchestra, Buzzards Over Baghdad, The Schene, and a slew of Bdee's groups, all meanwhile performing solo shows of the Sonitus material. He left the band and Wrong Island in December of 2007 to better focus on his solo recordings and produce bands in his studio, Sonitus Studios in Wantagh, NY. In April 2008, Briggs joined Vision Through Sound as their bassist and continues to play with them. Briggs is constantly writing new music and is willing to play almost any show thrown at him, with the exception of pay to play venues. In March 2009, Briggs was rejoined by Federici and Bdee and played a slew of shows throughout the year. In May 2009, bassist Phil "Meatball" Montalbano joined the group and they continue to play shows. The band is currently rehearsing their material in preparation to record their first album. Sonitus is all about the music. We do not plan on laching onto the arm of any corporate bigwig or sleazeball club owner. We only want the best for our music, and LI's predominantly pay to play venues do not meet our needs. The revolution has begun, and pay to play will be knocked down a peg, and the LI music scene will never be the same again.
