The Inhibitionists

About The Inhibitionists

The Inhibitionists were a Danish project consisting mainly of Christian Kann, who also runs The BSBTA Label Group. From The Inhibitionists' inception in 2003, until around 2005, Kann attempted tuneful twee pop, trying, as much as possible, to avoid the far out experiments of previous song based musical projects (most notably Tang Under the Bridge.) Several more-or-less-pop songs were released on compilations until The Inhibitionists' debut album, "Living it Up in the Dark Ages", was released by BSBTA in 2005. The album showcased numerous collaborators, with whom Kann had worked via mail. As such, "Living it Up" was a diverse mixture of nerdish pop glee, noisy shoegaze, and abstract electronica. A further album, "Flypaper Airplanes" (again through BSBTA), followed in 2006. At this point, The Inhibitionists had eschewed its pop leanings, opting for a harder to categorize psychedelic sound. As of 2007, project's name has been shortened to Inhibitionists, and is no longer a collaborative outfit, though Kann still collaborates one-on-one under the Inhibitionists name with other solo projects and bands. Recent recordings blend psych-noise, instrumental free-folk, stoner rock and drone.
