About The Evan Williams Project
The Evan Williams Project is a genre-agnostic band from Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. Their lyrics tend to focus on mental health, the metaphysical, and inner struggle. They were formed in 2017 by Scott McGowan (vocals and lead guitar), joined in 2021 by his sister Allayne "Launzo" McGowan (drums) and then in 2022 by their friend Isaac Robinson (keys). In early 2023 they welcomed Jaxon Russell (guitar), securing the core lineup. Genres that they have been associated with over their career include heavy rock, heavy metal, alternative rock, progressive rock, and progressive metal. The group is named after an incident in which Scott, upon signing up for Soundcloud in 2017, discovered that someone had already signed up with his e-mail address: an unknown individual named Evan Williams. Being unable to change the name on the account for 30 days, he opted to simply release his first demo under this name, changing the name to The Evan Williams Project after deciding he liked how it sounded. Scott is the sole member of his side project, Newvember. Jaxon also plays in a metal band called Deserted. Launzo is the live drummer for Dani Black and previously played with Jake Touzel. All four current band members grew up playing music together at their church in White Rock, British Columbia.
