About Stelle Amor

After meeting Stelle Amor, you begin to realize why she stands at a towering 6 feet tall – it takes all that to contain her enormous personality, infectious laugh, magnetic energy and that voice…. often described as “timeless”, blending various styles of soul, blues, alternative and pop, and has been compared to Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin and Lana Del Ray. Born in Kansas and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Stelle’s introduction to music came from her parents playing classic rock and country albums in their home. Although it was her dad’s love for the blues that really piqued her musical interests. Artists such as Etta James and Nina Simone cemented a passion for soulful music that continues with her today. Stelle’s inspiration to write songs developed at an early age. She began writing around the same time other kids were learning to ride a bike. “I literally have folders of songs that I have written as early as first grade,” recalls Stelle. At age 11, Stelle’s first instrument was the bassoon – not exactly a rock star’s instrument, but she later picked up the guitar and the piano to help develop her songwriting abilities. In addition to performing her songs at small venues in Louisville, Stelle would sneak into Stevie Ray’s Blues Bar (she was only 18) and sit in with the band, improvising lyrics and singing the blues. “Singing with those blues bands is when I realized my true calling as an artist and performer.” A chance encounter with family friends Johnny & Betty Sowards led Stelle to connect with Music Row veteran John Dorris, who drove to Louisville to see her perform. “I remember we played this hole in the wall in middle of nowhere called The Loft and it was packed. It had been snowing and it was extremely cold, but John had made it up from Nashville and it was a beautiful night.” At John Doris’ urging, Stelle packed her bags and moved to Nashville, unsure where the road would take her. Although she was initially encouraged to do country music, it didn’t take long for Stelle to realize her sultry voice and unique style didn’t quite fit the mold. So she started writing and singing what was in her heart unabashed and to break out of Music Row’s box. In 2015 Stelle met her producer, Dave Yarema, and her guitar player, Derek Toa, and really started finding her “soulternative” sound. Derek called up his old roommates from Berklee, drummer John Wood and bassist Will Cafaro, and the magic happened instantaneously. “I have been lucky to work with a lot of talented musicians - but there is just something undeniable about our vibe together that really brought the music to the next level.” Stelle and her band spent the next several months writing, rehearsing and playing every show they could; and their hard work is paying off. Stelle has wooed audiences at countless Nashville venues, was a semi-finalist at Music City Big Break (2016), performed at B.B. King’s Tribute Festival at Diamond Pub Concert Hall, and was featured on the TV show “Nashville Entertainment Weekly” as well as the “Women of Substance” podcast. Stelle and her band started recording their debut EP in 2016. Although still relatively unknown at the time, Stelle was able to recruit Nashville legends such as The McCrary Sisters, Maureen Murphy, Roy Agee and Vinnie Ciesielski to lend their talents on the EP, set to release in May 2017. The first single, “Get Right,” and music video were debuted in November 2016 and featured on the DJBooth. The music video for her second single, “Spike’s Groove,” will be released in March 2017. Stelle has also teamed up with singer-songwriter Kris Bradley and Grammy-winning producer Justin Merrill to form SideTripp, an edgy trip-hop trio. They are currently finishing their first EP and have already have several songs on hold for film and TV. Stelle’s mission is to “serenade the world,” inspire people through her music and spread the message of love and unity.
