Stand Defiant

About Stand Defiant

Emerging from Hobart in 2001, Stand Defiant are a four-piece punk rock band, whose frenetic blend of punk and melodic hardcore has been battering audiences across the devils island and mainland Australia for four years. Technical, fast, loud and never shy of expressing a belief, Stand Defiant have fought fiercely to build the Tasmanian scene and along with label mates The Scandal and Ballpoint have a staple of the local punk/hardcore community. Stand Defiants debut release was an independent 9-track album, So Called Humanity, which was recorded in March 2003. This limited-run release quickly sold out, and due to a line up and name change the band took time off and began writing new material. Finally on August 27 2004, Stand Defiant released their second major project, a split CD with good friends The Scandal, featuring four tracks from each band. This EP showed Australia the passionate punk rock that Tasmania is producing, and received excited reviews in Blunt and Pee magazines, Kerrang! magazine and on punkhardcore.com, tracks from the split have also featured on triple J’s short.fast.loud and home and hosed programs. 2006 saw Stand Defiant release a brand new EP titled Our Own Destruction. This EP features 6 tracks of tech-punk and melodic hardcore that showcases the bands penchant for driving rhythms soaring vocals and screaming solos. Stand Defiant's blistering live shows and solid-as-a-Mack-Truck sound has seen them support international acts Against Me!, Strike Anywhere, Strung Out and Lagwagon. They have also scored supports with national bands Away From Now, Parkway Drive, Irrelevant, Conation, The Go Set, I Killed The Prom Queen and 28 days. Aside from aurally assaulting fans across their home state, the band has ventured to mainland Australia numerous times. Most recently they took in all states except WA in independently booked and very well received tour with Adelaide’s finest Stolen Youth, in support of their new record. With a second round of sweaty and sing along enducing shows shaping up for February 2007 off the back of Our Own Destrcution and writing for their debut full length to be released in early 2008, Stand Defiant are staying busy doing what they do best, playing punk rock from the heart and having a blast along the way.
