About Space Kelly
Space Kelly (aka Ken) is a German indie pop artist of German/Japanese origin. Born in the 1970s, he first started playing music with his first band Fluffy Pillows - they split later on, and Ken decided to go solo under the name "Space Kelly". Ken usually uses a different line-up for his shows while he sings all of the songs - thus Space Kelly as an individual *and* a band is used interchangeably. The most frequent band players are Rene Bosom (vocals, guitar), Chris Robinson (guitar, vocals), and Sven Küster (drums). Space Kelly soon became an instant success with the release of their single "Die schönsten Mädchen gibt es in Amsterdam" (rough German translation: There are no girls as beautiful as in Amsterdam) in 1999, and their music is now revelled by indie pop lovers - despite the fact that nearly all of their songs are sung in German. The band has three renowned albums to date: Erster Alles! (2001), S.K.F.C. (2002), and 3 Elken 1 Elfer (2003). Recently released 'My Favourite Songbook vol 2 (2008)' (the first volume was released in 2006) is growing equally popular, and consists of English songs that Ken and his band members did covers of. Although they remain relatively unknown out of Germany and Japan (with Japan being their biggest fanbase) it is inevitable that they will soon become one of the frontiers of popular foreign indie pop.
