Anwar "SGT.WAR" Griffin (born January 17, 1983 in Queens, New York) is an all around hip-hop artist who also writes R&B music, Pop music, and poetry. SGT.WAR has independently releases released fifteen mixtures since 2007 independently. He is currently working on a few mix tape projects as we speck to be released this year. Music has always been part of SGT.WAR's life, coming from a town of historical jazz musicians and recording artist such as LL Cool J, James Brown, A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC & Jam Master Jay, Count Bassie, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, and John Coltrane. With influences such as these, SGT.WAR gained a passion for music at the young age of seven. It all started with him reading & remembering his oldest brother's raps from his book of rhymes and reciting them on the elementary school's play ground playground. His main purpose was to see how many of his fellow classmates attention he could capture. SGT.WAR was writing is own music by the time he was nine. That later lead to his brother writing rhymes for him and the young SGT.WAR writing his own music which he wrote his first song at the age of nine When SGT.WAR was started ing junior high school his family had moved from Queens, NY to Stone Mountain Atlanta, GA. There is where he was able to pick up that southern swagg you hear in his music today. SGT.WAR learned about instrumental music while attending school in Georgia at Miller groove middle school . During his education there he is also where he picked up the violin and added that it to his musical application. After residing in Georgia for a few years SGT.WAR’s family moved back to New York but life has it's ups and downs, so when SGT.WAR and is family moved back to NY is and everything change. The name of that change was called "Trouble". From the age of fourteen to twenty three, SGT.WAR's music career was hindered by uneducatedthoughtful choices that he mad which lead to several back & fourth incarcerations. Since his release in late 2006, SGT.WAR been has seriously focused on his music and has intently eludedbeen staying out of trouble by devoting his life back into to his music. by that being said he has His new purpose has brought him to the release of his fifteen 15th mix tape. All of which was accomplished in the last a span of two in a and a half years. Ten of those mixtures are called "NORTHSIDE COMPILATION GRIND HOUSE mix tapes". and got SGT.WAR was able to acquire Queens biggest DJ's to host these mixtures. DJ’s it such as Dj SuperStar Jay, Dj Love Dinero, Dj AntAlive, Dj TEARDROPZ, The Legendary Dj IKE LOVE, and, Dj Kev White, and the Legendary DJ. IKE LOVE have all been prominent figures of his mix tapes. These mix tapes featured him and other various local unsigned artist. Three out of those mix tapes are his solo projects, late 2007's "TIME IS MONEY" Hosted By DJ AntAlive, late 2008's "I AM HIP-HOP's FUTURE", Hhosted By Dj SuperStar Jay, and his latest, late 2009's "WAR MACHINE" Hhosted By Trap-A-Holics & Dj SuperStar Jay. The last two mix tapes were are 2009's valentine's day mix tape "Heart Breakers" Hhosted by female fans off the internet, and 2010's NorthSide Gang The Rise" Hosted By Dj SuperStar Jay which featuresd his music group:” The NorthSide Gang" which is his music group. In the summer of 2009, SGT.WAR co-hosted along with Ralph McDaniels co-hosted Hip-Hop's Longest running video show "VIDEO MUSIC BOX". SGT. WAR has worked with well known producers on On eachall the mix tapes SGT.WAR has released put out Producers such ashe has work with producers such as, Snagz 4real (producer of "who's real" off JadaKiss latest album), WillC (of streetheat TV/ Worldstarhiphop.com), Tom Hill (who produced tracks for artist like biggie smalls, nNas, bBusta rRhymes, and many other veterans hip-hp artist), March Pedro (producer of "Nothing" by Storm P who stared in the movie "The Cook Out"), and many others up and coming producers. SGT.WAR has recently picked up an interest in shooting and editing video footage within the last year. That This new interest has turned into a passion, so not only has he continued to dropped mix tapes, but he also released in late 2009, an entertainment dvd DVD called "MOFAMOUS DVD vol.1" with the assistance of his personal cameraman. The dvd DVD features exclusive interviews with major and up and coming music artist. This also made it possible for him to interact with major artist and get notice achieve notoriety within the music scenes. SGT.WAR is very dedicated to what he believes in, Music. He takes his life seriously and is certain his purpose is serious believes it belongs to to create music. That being said, pay close attention to the Sargent as he continues his journey to becoming a big huge part of hip-hop's history.
