About Secta Rouge

WE ARE SECTA ROUGE ============== We formed in Edinburgh in 2005 and have since then forged forward in the desperate search of our number one fan. Our first fan even. Just someone capable of listening. For a moment? The music is an intense sound that we create from the diverse backgrounds and interests of the five of us. We put a lot of ourselves into our music, at the expense of everyone immediately around us. We exhibit red hot anger and pathetic frailty anytime we try to communicate amongst ourselves so, with nothing else available to us, this is what shapes the sounds that we create. Somehow we have managed to play over 150 shows, toured the length of the UK and Ireland and aim to hit mainland Europe this year. We have had the unmittigated pleasure to play alongside some genuinely brilliant bands including (but not exclusively): Dysrhythmia, Zu, HORSE the Band, Ed Gein, Phoenix Bodies, Chickenhawk, Blakfish, Tombs, Meet Me in St Louis, Army of Flying Robots, Made Out of Babies, Errander, Chronicles of Adam West, Palehorse, Nitkowski, Astrohenge....you get the idea. We have just released our first full length LP gloriously entitled "Seabasstard" on our own label 'Vertical Seas Recordings'. It's the best thing we have ever done. Yet. ============== 2004 : Some noise was made. 2005 : Band formed with the addition of Stu and Wurzel. 3 or 4 shows. First gig as Secta Rouge 4/12/05. 2006 : 3 track demo released. 35 shows played. First shows in England. Lost Wurzel our first bass player. Gained Paddy. 2007 : Lots more gigs. Shows with Ed Gein and Chronicles of Adam West. Released self-produced 5 track EP "Pathologica Fantastica". 2008 : 2 mini-tours with Jackie Treehorn. England tour. Couple of gigs with Blakfish. Bought first van for 380 quid. Shows with Zu, Down I Go, Meet Me in St Louis, Errander, Manatees, Tangaroa, etc. Lots of writing. 2009 : Tour with Celebrity Love Crisis. Couple of shows with Chickenhawk. Ireland/England Tour. First van is a write off (RIP. The Enterprise). 2nd van breaks down after 10 days (RIP. The Red Failure). Stranded in Ireland...SHIT! Gear Stolen. Start recording first album at Split Level Studios with the awesome Neil McNaught. 2010 : 2 more tours, more new places. Gigs with Dysrhythmia, NoMeansNo, Astrohenge, Palehorse, etc. Radio session for Subcity Radio. Finished recording "Seabasstard" @ Split Level Studios. Mixed by Neil McNaught (who we crippled with Bells Palsy midway through tracking) and eventually mastered by the wonderful Jason Sanderson (Rolo Tomassi, Chickenhawk, etc.). Released on 31/10/10 and available to the world. Wrote more songs that are too complex for us to play. 2011: UNDOUBTED SUCESS... =============== (*EDIT* - We do need help you swine! We're killing each other here! every day i die inside when i wake up crying, i look at my wife, she's crying, and we just sit in bed staring at each other and screaming, screaming in fear of what emotional toils another day will bring.)
