Real name of Deadbeat Canadian electronic musician Scott Monteith today announced he was permanently retiring his long running Deadbeat artist alias and will continue releasing and performing music in future exclusively under his own name. “As an 18 year old making not quite dance floor electronic music the name Deadbeat was an appropriately precocious turn of phrase. For a 45 year old father of two, maybe not so much. There are a lot of Deadbeat’s in the world these days, both in the traditional English slang sense and those using it as a moniker to make everything from black metal to 2step and think it’s time I left said moniker to these younger men who are happy to employ it with a little less baggage than I’m willing to carry at this stage. ”
