About Sasha Dobson

Sasha Dobson (born 1980) is an American jazz singer-songwriter from Santa Cruz, California. She is the daughter of the late great jazz pianist and singer Smith Dobson, and jazz vocalist Gail Dobson, and had begun singing with her family professionally by the age of 12. Her debut album, Modern Romance, released in August 2006, is a fusion of Brazilian groove, pop, jazz, and selections from the Great American Songbook. Jesse Harris and Richard Julian co-produced as well as contributed guitar work and songwriting. Tony Scherr (Bill Frisell, Willie Nelson) plays electric bass, and Mauro Refosco (Bebel Gilberto, David Byrne) percussion. Sasha currently resides in Brooklyn, performing in New York City, throughout the United States, and in Japan.
