About Sétima Legião

Sétima Legião were a Portuguese rock band active from 1982 when it was formed by friends Pedro Oliveira, Rodrigo Leão and Nuno Cruz until 2000. They named the band Sétima Legião after the Roman 7th Legion (Legio VII Gemina), stationed in Lusitania in the first century AD. The band was very successful mostly during the eighties and early nineties and one of the most innovative of the Portuguese rock scene during its active years. Mixing post-punk influences from band as Joy Division and Echo & The Bunnymen with more convencional rock music, synthpop and Portuguese folk the band had a very distinctive sound that made them stand apart from other Portuguese bands of its time.
