About Ryan Velvet
Ryan Velvet is an Asian-American singer/songwriter, rapper, producer, and performer that's based in San Antonio, TX. Born in Cebu, Philippines, but moved over to the United States at a young age, Ryan Velvet has been making music since being left to his own devices at 12 years old while rooted in Baltimore, Maryland. He began learning FL Studio and gradually figured out how to make beats, and recorded raps over them, being inspired by MF DOOM, Kanye West, and Odd Future. Following a visit to New York City, a love for Punk Rock was ignited, and after having been uprooted to Texas for high school, Ryan Velvet picked up the guitar. He learned how to play, and write songs based on, the likes of Bad Brains and Black Flag but with the melodic pop flair of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Along the way, he figured out how to record guitars, bass, and drums, and quickly amassed an extensive repertoire of demos with an eclectic array of styles. Since then, Ryan Velvet has since released two albums, 'Noise Noise Noise' and 'Modern Teenage Insect' (2019) alongside an EP and a Mini-LP such as 'Go Forth, Eerie Spirits!' (2020) and 'Waiting For...' (2021). For 2022, Ryan Velvet has been continuously releasing music, such as the monthly instrumental-focused 'Here Are the Beats!' series, and a string of singles throughout the year, culminating in releasing the experimental hip-hop album, 'AREYOUOKAY?'. He also livestreams often on Twitch, produces video content on YouTube and TikTok, as well as writes in third person on occasion.
