About Reluctant Stereotypes

The Stereotypes were a 70's Experimental Jazz Rock band from Coventry, UK. Evolving from Ens, they changed their name ( to Reluctant Stereotypes) following the departure of Pete Bosworth, who was was one of the founding members. The line up of Stereotypes Mk I, was Steve Haddon - Guitar, Steve Edgson - Clarinet/Sax/Guitar, Mick Hartley - Bass, Chris Dunne - Drums, Martyn Bates - Vocals & Paul Sampson - Guitar. The band signed with Oval and released their first single in 1979. They suffered a fairly major split shortly afterwards - mainly because Steve Haddon was being really ars3y about the second single! Only two members went on to form the Mk ii version - Steve Edgson & Paul Sampson.
