About Rattlesnakes

1. The Rattlesnakes were a band that made the rounds in and around L.A. between 2001 to 2003. Two of them were brothers, two others were best friends, and the rest had all known eachother for the better part of a decade. They originated from the depths of Corona, California, a small, dusty, insignificant place, known only for producing the band Los Cincos. The Rattlesnakes were known for their live shows, and extremely wonderful personalities. Their releases include a split 7" with the K-Nobs, a split 12" with The Switch, and a Full length album entitled "I, Explosion!". They were in the process of about to begin recording their new album with producer _____ _______ when they imploded. The continual stress of having made seven years of sacrifice for the band, making everything else secondary finally overwhelmed them all. They have all since moved on. Not one of them re-entered the L.A. music scene or made any subsequent music there. Eric is the only one who still makes music and plans on releasing an album summer of 2006, under the name eric volcano, which can be found on myspace. 2. Rattlesnakes is a Russian rockabilly band, Almost from the very beginning of their biography THE RATTLESNAKES are one of the most professional, creatively active and open-minded groups on the vast, but somewhat hermetic and oriented, mainly on the cover version of the rockabilly scene of St. Petersburg and throughout Russia. At least they - one of the few - have brought something of their own into this conservative genre, writing author's material and publishing good albums. THE RATTLESNAKES was created in November 1995 by guitarist, singer and songwriter Yuri "Odnozub" Sutkova. He was born on April 8, 1970 in Smolensk, after graduating from school, entered the Faculty of Arts of the University of Trade Unions, at the turn of the 90s became interested in rockabilly, and in 1991, together with double bass player Garry Volkov, formed the band THE EYEBALLS, which performed not only covers of the classics of the genre, but also songs. At the end of the next year - after a short alliance with RAZEFIT - Yuri changed her to the ATTRACKARS trio, focused on aggressive psychobilly. In February 1993, the group performed at the Psycho Rumble festival in the Indie club, was chosen for concerts in Moscow (where in the summer of 1994 Sutkova, who was visiting his brother at that time, played with the future MADFISH), and a couple of years later fell apart, after which Sutkova started looking for like-minded people for a new project with an eye to neo-rockabilly. In the fall of 1995, he joined the cover band ROCKIN 'CHAIR, where he was accompanied by quite experienced musicians: Oleg Khudkin, guitar, and Alexander Karnazov, double bass, began to play rockabilly in the same 1991 under the name THE SUNSTROCKERS, which three years later turned into ROCKIN 'CHAIR. Their drummer is Alexei Gubin, who previously played punk rock and a hard alternative. After working together for one season, they teamed up with Sutkov under the new name THE RATTLESNAKES. The group immediately began to actively perform in the clubs of both capitals and rather quickly achieved fame among rockabilly fans and the respect of the owners of clubs and concert venues. With the prefix "neo" they distanced themselves from the performers of root rockabilly, since in Sutkovy's music you can hear elements of rock and roll, swing, surf, country, garage rock, Latin and even jazz. They were connected with tradition only by the fact that the lyrics of all the songs were in English. In 1997 the band recorded their debut album "El Caballero". It was released in Sweden by the small company DCM Records. For the song of the same name, which became their first hit, a video was shot, which was shown for some time on the Muz-TV channel. Later, THE RATTLESNAKES played an hour live on the same channel. Two years later, in 1999, the band's second album, "Lady Wild", was released. Then THE RATTLESNAKES performed at the prestigious annual festival "Rock'n'Roll Jamboree 58" in Finland, and in the summer of 2000 they became headliners of the international rock festival "Kosmodrom" in Petrozavodsk. The original line-up of the group disbanded in August 2001. In the same autumn Khudkin, Karnazov and Gubin organized their own group THE PHANTOMS, in which they continued to play rockabilly and received a permanent registration in the "Money Honey" club. In THE RATTLESNAKES, double bassist Max Temnov (MADFISH) and drummer Vladimir Zamytsky (HOT WHEELS) did not play for long, but in September Yuri Sutkovoy assembled a new version of the group, where Andrey Bitulev was invited, guitar, vocals, his former colleague Alexander "Harry" Volkov (after EYEBALLS he has appeared in RAZEFIT, SCARY BOOM, SUSPENSE, CADILLACS and GXF), double bass, and Sergey Kalinin, drums, vocals. Kalinin previously played metal in the NORTHERN VRATA band. Already in November, the renewed lineup successfully played at the "Rock'n'Roll Ruby 2" festival with the Finnish band THE STRING BEANS. In December 2002, Volkov was replaced by Dmitry "Jess" Ilyin, another veteran of the psycho scene, who started back in 1990 as a classic THE MEANTRAITORS, formed an interesting group AWAQUA, and even later worked with the same CADILLACS. Constantly experimenting with their music, in 2003 the musicians recorded an unexpected project "C4 - Explosion is Inevitable" in the ska style. In addition, they several times participated in the tour of the American surf group RED ELVISES, organized in Los Angeles by immigrants from Russia. In June 2004 at the Moscow 4 Rooms club THE RATTLESNAKES were honored to perform at a party with Quentin Tarantino and David Carradine, who brought the film "Kill Bill 2" to the Moscow Film Festival. In the same August, both of the band's albums were re-released on a double CD. In addition, the compilation "1999-2001 To Be Continued ..." was added to their discography (all of them were released under the BRP Records label). The next big promotions in the band's track record were participation in the festivals "RockBomBilly" (Ivanovo), "The Global Battle Of The Bands" and "Smolensk Project", and in December they accompanied the British neo-rockabilly pioneer Mark Harman (RESTLESS) during his visit to Moscow. The geography of THE RATLESNAKES tour covers almost the entire European part of Russia: Petrozavodsk, Penza, Yaroslavl, Pskov, Vologda, Rybinsk, Yekaterinburg ... In the summer of 2005 the group participated in the international festivals "Rockabilly Ruuhijarvi 2005" in Finland, "Rumburk Rumble 2" and "Rock For People" in the Czech Republic, in Russia played at the festivals "Ros-n-Roll in Gorbushkin Dvor", "Swing Boom", "RockenRoll Autumn" and on the Russian tour "2nd Deal In Russland" by the German band THE TONY MONTANAS. THE RATLESNAKES celebrated their 10th anniversary in November. In 2006 Tombstone Records released a live album "Moscow Gig" - a recording of THE RATTLESNAKES 'performance with Mark Harman at the Bunker club. By this time, Sutkova himself had divided his time between St. Petersburg and Moscow for several years, where he entered the forge of personnel of the capital's rock, the Architectural Institute, and in addition, together with the participants of THE SILVERTONEZ, created an interesting project LOS BARRANCOS, which performed mainly songs in Spanish language. The group defined its style as surf latino rock. Also in 2006, THE RATTLESNAKES 'discography was expanded with the album "Tornado". Over the next decade, they toured, mainly in the north and north-west of Russia, as well as neighboring countries with an author's program, while in Moscow they played covers more often. Petersburg audience usually heard THE RATTLESNAKES in the retro bar "Damn it" and the indispensable "Money Honey". 3. Rattlesnakes are a Heavy Metal band from Nottingham, England. Formed in: 2024.
