This is a most unusual project! It all began with a world champion athlete who had a secret desire to be a singer. Rowing had been her whole life and she was never able to pursue her dream.... until now.... When you've had major success in your life, other people may find it hard to accept any change of direction that you choose for yourself. Now, however an opportunity was about to present itself... Sitting in the lobby of a hotel in Kolding one day, she made a phone call to Hans Nielsen of Focus Recordings, with whom she had worked with 5 years previously. She explained the basic idea to him and they arranged to meet. Hans had some good news. Top producer and pop singer, Charles Pierre, had just moved to Denmark from abroad. He’d been a singer in the band “Londonbeat” ("I've Been Thinking About You") and had worked with many other very successful international artists. Hans promised to set up a meeting with Charles who, as he had just arrived in Denmark, didn’t have a fully booked schedule and might be interested. Mette Bloch and Charles Pierre met at Focus studios on the 1st February 2007, to talk about the project. The athlete wanted to do an album that was a little bit different. An album that could be used for something other than just listening. She explained that she wanted all the tracks to be exactly the same length so that people could use the cd for timed work outs. Then the producer had an idea. Not only would all the tracks be the same length, he suggested that they all be in completely different styles. This would prove that , not only, can you do anything if you put your mind to it, no matter who you are, but there would something on the album for everybody. This was a brave "make or break" project! So finally here we are. The CD is the product of a wonderful journey. It’s been tough, it’s taken a long time but it’s been fun!!! We both hope that you will be able to hear the love, hope, fun and hard work that’s been put into this album. And remember… you CAN be whoever you want to be.
