About Pippo's Progress

“Ultimately, Pippo’s Progress is nothing short of extraordinary” – The Math Rock Blog Within only a year of forming, Pippo’s Progress was already playing to crowds in London’s top venues, most notably two packed nights curated by DJ and percussionist Lascelle Lascelles (Beth Orton, Brand New Heavies) at Dalston’s Café Oto (“Britain’s Coolest Venue” – Italian Vogue). Pippo’s Progress dropped their debut EP in November 2011, to critical acclaim and national radio broadcast on the independent ‘Amazing Radio’ station. The eponymous debut was recorded and partly produced by Jon Clayton (Graham Coxon, Steve Albini) and delivers some of the freshest, finest, heavy-hitting and deeply grooving new Post/Prog Rock out there today. The sleeve and cover was designed by illustrator Matt Burden (Warp Records). The breadth and viscerality of the music is astounding, from the opening pulsating polyrhythms of ‘Hot Toddy’ (a track that sounds like it could have come from a lost King Crimson record during their Gamelan phase), to the gradually unfolding poignancy of ‘1% Smoother’ (an almost raga-like contemplation that slowly builds and builds), closing with the heavy synth-bass groove laced with electric psychedelia that is ‘Hurricane Williams’. "Notable for heavy grooves, introspective melodies and a math rock precision, the band build irresistible, monolithic compositions." -Club Integral. Pippo’s Progress need to be seen live, where the bristling energy and vertiginous rhythms of their music sweeps the listener away. After a year off with one member moving to Brazil temporarily, 2013 looks set to be their busiest year so far with a new EP in the works and shows planned throughout the UK and at the summer festivals.
