About Nika D
Nika D, real name Nikhil Nagarkar, is a dubstep, drum and bass, and grime MC and rapper known from the duo Virus Syndicate. He has provided vocals for many artists, most commonly people from UK-based Disciple Records such as Infekt, Bandelz, and Samplifire. Having pioneered the genre of "Rap & Bass" for more than fifteen years, Nika D together with his parter from Virus Syndicate, JSD (David Hindley), launched their own label called Bad Medic Records. The label will serve as an independent platform to support Virus Syndicate’s creative vision while providing space to the talents they believe in to grow, develop and bring them to the forefront of the industry, with a certain focus on MC's. Not tied by genre or tempo, Bad Medic is a straight-up celebration of the fusion of rap and electronic music. Be it dubstep, bassline, grime or D&B, Bad Medic has a prescription for all styles as long as the mic handlers are at the forefront. “The label’s aim is to embody the whole culture that has shaped Great Britain in the last 30 odd years,” Nika explains to 1 More Thing in a interview. “We’ve yet to see a label where the MC and the fusion of dance and rap music is the focus. It’s a space that is open to MCs and artists making this music together. A real home for it.”
