NEO is the new comet on planet pop! The name holds many different meanings, but one of them is that it stands for Near Earth Objects; asteroids, meteorites and comets that are in orbit so close to Earth that a collision is possible. NEO is, in fact, a super nova! Normally, one would come to the conclusion that Neo stands for “new”, as in neoclassicism, and why not? He certainly offers a fresh new approach to classic pop melodies. His highly contemporary pop brings the melodies of the 70´s alive with vibrant arrangements from the 80´s – all wrapped up in a production that is more tomorrow than yesterday. Think Scissor Sisters and Mika meets a-ha and Alphaville and you’re not far off. - The unique thing about me is that I use the entire range of my voice, says the star in the making, still managing to stay humble. - I’m proud about my voice which has a rich spectra and this kind of fun pop gives me a chance to showcase it in every song. Neo describes his music as a hybrid between days gone and those yet to come. His debut album One is where several generations of pure pop blends into something as fascinating as a brand new sound. - I'm mixing melodies from the 70´s with arrangements from the 80´s and I´ve added a production that is very much today, he muses. Neo’s impressing falsetto is his trademark and he sings circles around melodies rich in hit potential. From the instant pop smacker Higher to the groovy Born To This World and infectious Silver Lining, the album One is brim full of future classics. Mind you, there's actually a remake of a classic on there as well. His rendition of Leo Sawyer’s super hit I Feel Like Dancing is a guaranteed floor filler. Neo has sung since he was a toddler but it was when he was exposed to the classic Swedish musical Kristina from Duvemåla, composed by Bjorn and Benny of ABBA fame, that he decided that he wanted to be a singer. Growing up, the only music he was exposed to was that of his parents and they enjoyed Julio Iglesias and Swedish schlager. - God knows where I found my own music, he says. I was 12 when I got my first stereo and an awful CD compilation. Today I enjoy Robbie Williams, Mika and I´ve got a soft spot for lounge music. You may want to believe that an artist with a cool name like Neo hails from, if not outer space so at least a metropolitan city. Think again. Neo is from a rural farm land, having grown up in a very idyllic environment. - I come from Falköping in the county of Västergötland, incidentally the area with the most cows in Sweden, he laughs. In the spring, when the farmers are fertilizing the soil, the whole town smells of manure. And there, with red houses and picket fences and having a horse, we saw the birth of this soon to be metropolitan pop star. - I remember my family taking me to a lake famous for the cranes that gathered by the thousands each spring. We called it the crane-dance. How fun was that for a 10 year old, looking at a bunch of birds? I preferred to take riding lessons. It was much cooler to hang around the pretty girls at the stables where you could strut around, showing off your great ass! Today, Neo resides in Stockholm, but he’s been travelling around most of the time for years now. It all started in Greece and on the Canary Islands where he worked as a show artist at tourist hotels. Once back, he quickly became a member of the famous show group Wallmans, touring around Sweden. - I guess you can say that the song A Million Miles Away is the soundtrack to my life. That’s how I feel at times, that I’m a million miles away from home. Neo´s debut album One is up for release filled with tracks that will fill dance floors all over the world and beyond. Neos debut album One is brand new and received praise in the press and the single You Make Me Feel Like Dancing charted in Sweden. “With this material, it's a miracle if this guy don´t become a huge star”, the influential daily Barometern wrote. “Neo is newcomer of the year”, stated QX Magazine and added “all tracks on this album can be hits!”. In the UK, several important pop blogs has praised Neo. Next up, Neo will be launched in Poland where his single You make Me Feel Like Dancing has been picked up by Polish TV as the theme song for a new, big TV-series!
