Mimoza Ahmeti (born 1963 in Kruje, Albania) is among the most prominent of contemporary Albanian poets, and perhaps the most well-known female Albanian poet. Her most popular and critically acclaimed book is the collection of 53 poems Delirium, published in 1994,Tirane, by "Marin Barleti" Publishing House. Her most recent book of poems is The Pollination of Flowers, by "Ora" Publishing House, Tirane, 2004. Ahmeti has published widely and her books have been translated into Italian, French and Spanish. Although best-known for her poems, she has also written short stories, articles and novels. She has ventured into the musical field, participating in several Albanian music festivals, like "Kenga Magjike", "Maratona Popullore". She had as well as painted a series of nudes. On 1994 she had an exhibition in the National Gallery of Arts, Tirana. Ahmeti was a candidate for the Democratic Party in the 2001 local Tirana elections, in which she was defeated. The recent book of prose of Mimoza Ahmeti is the novel:The hallucinating woman 2006, published by "OMBRA GVG", Tirane. Ahmeti is the winner of the Festival of Poetry of San Remo, 1998, organized by RAI UNO.
