About Matthew Buckley

Southern Wisconsin singer/songwriter Matthew Buckley straddles the line between pastoral hippie folkie and lo-fi indie troubadour. Taking influence from classic folk/rock and Americana acts such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead, as well as more contemporary indie groups such as The Apples in Stereo and Neutral Milk Hotel. Whether interpreting the songs of his idols or presenting his original compositions, Buckley's untrained, yet sincere delivery and display illustrate authenticity. Penning lyrics alongside the music, Buckley's songs range from introspective and reflective meditations on the self and the world to playful and carefree declarations of joy and simple jaunty tunes -- not to mention a bit of social and political commentary. At the end of July 2021 Buckley self-released a three-track digital EP, a tribute to Athens, GA musician and songwriter Bill Doss of The Olivia Tremor Control and The Sunshine Fix of The Elephant Six Recording Co.
