Musical references of Mary Has A Gun are band such as Paramore, New Found Glory, Billy Talent, The All-American Rejects or Green Day. == History == === 2003-2005 Formation and first steps: Ex'S === Mary Has A Gun is known at this time under their old name: "Ex's". After several gigs in the area the group decided to focus on writing a couple of first songs in French. After several shows, the band decided to record his first Album ("Un monde en 3 minutes") with Christian Carvin. Following the recording of the group approached music professionals primarily through internet. They make the acquaintance of Matthew T. and Alexander M., young Parisian producers interested in their music. They decided to start working together on the recording of their album re-working the titles already subsisting. === 2005-2006: Working 1st Album: === The group worked for a year on their album "Un monde en 3 minutes" that finally was not released by the band. They began performing some shows mainly in their area in France ( Myspace show ...) and started gaining attention on the internet, after posting a few songs on their pages. === 2006-2011 Change of name: Mary Has A Gun / 1 Album "PM" === This period was marked by several important changes for the group. The production team included a new project partner, Stephane Girard (Action Media). The group decided to change their old name "Ex's" for "Mary Has A Gun". Leo, the lead vocalist who previously also played the guitar decided to stop playing guitar to concentrate on singing and a new member, Romain Julien "Rom", joined the band as a guitarist. The band posted some new songs and new image on their online pages. In the same time they decided to go back in studio to refine old songs and write new ones in order to release the first EP of Mary Has A Gun "AM" on the net and prepare the first album "PM" . At this moment the band has a growing reputation in France on the Internet and began to have some articles in the French rock magazine Rock One, which devotes several articles (including a cover for an occasional special issue # 112 in June 2010.), Several dates were organized in Paris including the "One Rock Festival" w/Killerpilze, Ed-Åke and "MHAG" (Mary Has A Gun) 23 May 2010 at the Elysee Montmartre + opening Four Year Strong show in Lyon. The 4 track EP "AM" Mary Has A Gun (digital) released August 30, 2010 and ranks No. 1 when digital [[iTunes]] sales "rock" category in France for several days after its release. The first album''''Mary Has A Gun "PM" is soon to follow, and its national release is October 20, 2010. The album "PM" stands then also No. 1 iTunes store Digital sales in the "rock" category in France upon its release several days and will even succeed to climb in the "Top France" iTunes all categories sales, for several days. The album will be voted "Best Album of 2010 French rock" (Rock One N° 73 February 2011) by the magazine Rock One in 2011. The group is named "Best Growing band" in France (Rock One N°61 January 2010) and then "Best French group in 2010," ( Rock One N°73 February 2011) by the French magazine "Rock One" too. A "release show" was sheduled in Paris' La Boule Noire " on the November 10th 2010. After these dates the band signed on the Universal Publishing France label and began a national French tour "AM to PM tour" which passed in several cities in France. After a disagreement with artistic production and publishing, Mary Has A Gun decided to go their own way. "Rom" left the group during this period. === 2012: New Mary Has A Gun === During the period following the release of their first album Mary Has A Gun composed and prepared several new songs that will be released all along the year. All the new images, pictures, artworks, merch design and videoclip are created by the band (Léo and Ladislas both graphic designers) in a D.I.Y way, in order to create a specific visual image for Mary Has A Gun. A major change is to notify : Mary Has A Gun that previously sung mostly in French now compose songs in English. The first new single "Easy Way" was released with a clip on youtube January 13, 2012. The second album will be recorded in January 2013 in Montreal/Canada with the producer Luc Tellier.
