Malnack

About Malnack

Two former members of the 1980's band Modern Day Scenics have returned to release new material as Malnack. Brent Malnack and wife Mars Booth began recording in their home studio in late 2007. Their demos quickly evolved into full fledge projects and they enlisted the help of several studio musicians to complete them. To date, 5 songs have been recorded and the duo has used Bones Hillman (bassist Midnight Oil), David Rainger (guitarist Annie Lennox), Scot Alexander (bassist Dishwalla), Tony Morra (Nashville studio drummer), Chris Stamey (producer), Chris Manning (producer, former member of Jellyfish), Steve Horner (composer) and Tom Ware (producer) as participants on the tracks. They decided to support the recordings with live performances and assembled a band with Tom Larkin on guitar, Matt McCahill on bass, Bill Naidenovich on drums. The band had their debut performance at the MidAmerican Music Festival in September of 2008 and has continued to perform about one gig a month. The songs to date along with an unreleased track from their 1980's band have recently been compiled and mastered as a new EP called Metempsychosis.
