About M-Trey
Since the tender age of 3, Delbert Hunt III (Formerly known as Master 3, hence M-Trey) has been in love with music. He bounced from instrument to instrument, never really choosing which one to continue. He realized that the instrument he loved the most was the microphone, and he began writing rhymes in 6th grade. 9 years later (since 2001) here he stands. His high school group with fellow Suburban Naperville rapper Sey and Mike Smith, Suburban Eloquence, made some great music, going so far as to raise their own money to put their album, Revolution, on iTunes. After all members graduated high school and went their separate ways, Master 3 sill continued to grow. Within DePaul University in downtown Chicago, many MC's to collaborate with appeared, as well as giving him much more opportunities. M-Trey has honed his skills into a style consisting of vivid storytelling, brutal honesty about himself, while also taking the time to put lesser MCs in their places. As Master 3, he has made many mixtapes and DIY recordings/releases such as 4 all starting in 2007: The W.A.Y., The Fix, The Fix Pt. 2, Women & Music and a lot more then most would expect from a high school senior who graduated in '07. He mixed many others in recent years but with what he considers his first real release, Light Up The Darkness, he was able to successfully create a concept album (drawing heavily from I Am Legend) that still was able to be 100% him. Now, he’s working on Immaculate Dopeness (2010), a collaboration album with producer Drew Beat, and an album with producer Ishaq Fahim, entitled 3AM. Along with these, he’s also in the process of finishing various other mixtapes, features, group and solo projects, all while being a junior in DePaul University’s Digital Cinema program. He keeps himself busy, but his love for the music shines through every song he’s created. All you have to do is listen.
