About Ludovic Spiess
Ludovic Spiess (May 13, 1938 - January 29, 2006) was born in Cluj, in a family of humble people without musical education. Spiess young later discovered great music in 18 years, in a concert hall in Brasov. Start studies in Cluj, with Basil and John Corpaci Mărgineanu, then go to Bucharest, where he continued studies with Professor George Pascu. Married very early, with pianist Gerda Zach. After a brief stint in the Army Ensemble and Musical Theatre debut in Brasov, in the autumn of 1962 became a soloist of the Operetta Theatre in Bucharest (1962-1964), where Let me sing and play Lysistrata by Gherase Dendrino, Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss and Lehar Land of Smiles. Spiess and continued her studies in Bucharest with the famous baritone Peter Stefanescu Goangă in 1964 reaching the Romanian Opera singer (1964-1988). Next to him during the great international success: Toulouse Grand Prix (1964), Grand Prix and two interpretation prizes at Rio de Janeiro (1965), First Prize at s'Hertogenbosch (1966) and a scholarship to Milan for a year. At Salzburg attention great conductor Herbert von Karajan, which will perform the role of Dimitri in Boris Godunov by Moussorgsky. In 1970 appears the Foro Italico in Rome in a concert-show, the American conductor Leonard Bernstein, under whose baton will then perform in Vienna, Knight Rose by Richard Strauss. In 32 years at La Scala debut in the role of Calaf. At the Metropolitan Opera in New York plays in five performances of works Troubadour, Fidelio and Pagliacci. Fancy singing in Buenos Aires, Tosca in San Francisco, the Bicentenary Beethoven Fidelio in Bonn, Boheme and Tosca in Munich, Troubadour and masquerade in Naples, Rome Aida, Troubadour, with Montserrat Caballé Theatre Antique in Orange, where made the first film and television Aida at Covent Garden in London, together with Leontyne Price. By 1981, Spiess added to his repertoire a few vocal-symphonic music reference: Mahler's Song of the earth, the Verdi Requiem, Missa Solemnis by Beethoven and Joan at the stake by Honegger. Ludovic Spiess has played with names like: Brigit Nilsson, Martina Arroyo, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Christa Ludwig, Gwyneth Jones, Katia Ricciarelli, Virginia Zeani, Peter Schreier, Mario Serena, Cesare Siepi, Sena Juriac, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau ... collaborating with conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Karl Bohm, Roberto Band, mishaps Giuseppe Alberto heredity, Otto Klemperer, Kurt Adler, Nello Santi, Wolfgang Sawalisch, Francesco Molinari-Pradella, Josef Krips, Rafael Kubelik, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Boris Haitink, Michel Plasson and Ricardo Muti.
