About Luciano Pizzolante

Luciano Pizzolante, born in 1969, lives and works in Florence, Italy. Luciano grew up in Milan and was attracted to the guitar while still at a tender age, instantly falling under the spell of the rock sounds of the eighties. At the beginning he taught himself, then went on to study the electric guitar in depth with Giulio Salfa (Fusion) and Steve Tessarin (Rock). From 1990 to 2002 he played in various rock bands in and around Milan and worked as a session player in recording studios. In 2003 he gave up all musical activity and dedicated himself entirely to more “serious” work – as an engineer. After a long voluntary spell of not playing, he developed an interest in acoustic music and in particular fingerstyle guitar. His discovery of acoustic sonorities dates to his first encounter with Peppino D’Agostino in 2001, but it was the music of Walter Lupi which really hit home. The desire to explore this new acoustic dimension of the guitar led him to start composing original pieces, managing in this way to express the most intimate side of his musical universe. Luciano’s music is evocative, emotional and brimming with nuances almost as if these were short soundtracks for a dream-like flow of images. The melody, always to the forefront, becomes a narrator’s voice recounting ageless stories. In 2009, after moving to Florence, he came into contact with an organization that is one of a kind: the Folk Club Six Bars Jail, a group of connoisseurs of fingerstyle guitar who promote this musical genre above all by organizing concerts, playing host to top names from all over the world. The chance to get to know and listen live to artists of the calibre of John Renbourn, Chris Proctor, Muriel Anderson, John Doan, Beppe Gambetta, etc. became fundamental in his musical education. In May 2010 he was a guest of Fingerpicking.net at the Acoustic Guitar Meeting in Sarzana, while in July he was on the bill of the first edition of the Guitar Wine Festival at Borgo Priolo (Pavia). The great following that his music attracted on Internet persuaded him to produce the promotional CD, “Raccontami di Te”, released in January 2011, and containing seven of the most representative pieces he has written.
