About Loner Deer

Loner Deer is a French singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in the Alsace region of north-eastern France, near the Vosges mountains. Known for his blend of folk, rock, pop, and country music, he writes and performs primarily in English. Despite his indie grassroots profile, his audience is from all over the world and not regional or French. Musical Style and Themes Loner Deer's music is characterized by stripped-down, organic production and a deep connection to nature. His songwriting frequently explores themes of memory, isolation, human relationships, and heartbreak. He often writes from the perspective of a solitary, wandering character, utilizing an intimate and melancholic vocal delivery. He is heavily involved in the production of his own music, frequently recording his tracks in his home studio. On his records, he plays a wide variety of instruments himself, including acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, harmonicas, bass, and drums, while also incorporating ambient field recordings. His stated musical influences include Eddie Vedder, The White Buffalo, Shawn James, Ray LaMontagne, Jonah Kagen, and Hazlett. Career and Discography Loner Deer debuted in February 2020 with his first single, "The Foolhardy," introducing listeners to his acoustic, Americana-influenced sound. He followed this with his debut EP, Brown and Blue, released on October 1, 2020. His discography expanded with the release of his first full-length album, The Old Pine, in 2022. Operating primarily as an independent artist, he established his own label, Folkenberg Records. Under this label, he released his third album, Wildflowers, on April 24, 2026.
