About Kokym
Karam Khalaf, professionally known as Kokym, is a Palestinian pop singer-songwriter. He was born and raised in occupied Palestine, singing in Fallahi dialect, which the people of his hometown of Jat have spoken for generations. At 13, he taught himself to play keyboard, sparking a passion for songwriting and storytelling, often inspired by life under occupation. In 2015, Karam moved to Istanbul to study Arabic music at the Arab Music Institute, led by Syrian musician Maher Na’ana’a. A year later, in 2018, Karam created “Fallahi Pop,” a genre blending modern music with traditional Palestinian melodies and rural accents. His first single, released on Soundcloud in April 2018, marked the rise of his fresh sound and gained instant popularity. In July 2019, he released his debut EP, Kufur El Tuffah. After enduring the 2021 war in Palestine, Kokym released a tribute track that became a massive hit within Palestinian communities. By September 2022, his viral track solidified his status, particularly on TikTok. On March 1, 2024, Kokym released his second EP as a protest album, continuing his rise as a professional artist.
