About Peter Kofler
Born in Bolzano, Italy, the organist and harpsichordist Peter Kofler received his first musical education at the local conservatory Claudio Monteverdi. He studied organ and church music in Munich with Harald Feller as well as harpsichord with Christine Schornsheim. While he was still studying, he received a teaching assignment as choir director at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and became assistant to Hansjörg Albrecht at the Munich Bach Choir. Peter Kofler performed with famous ensembles such as the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Kremerata Baltica and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and worked with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Krzysztof Penderecki, Heinz Holliger and Peter Schreier. Among his chamber music partners are Christine Schornsheim, Francois Leleux and Ramón Ortega Quero. As organist or harpsichordist Peter Kofler is a regular guest at international music festivals. Several CD and radio broadcasts (ZDF, BR, RAI, Sony Classical, Tudor, Oehmsclassics) round out his artistic activities. In 2007 Peter Kofler was invited as official harpsichord accompanist of the ARD music competition. The Bücher-Dieckmeyer Foundation awarded him a development grant for the maintenance of church music in Bavaria. Peter Kofler is artistic director of the festival „Münchner Orgelherbst“ and of the Classic Choir Munich. Since August 2008 he is organist at the “Jesuiten- und Hofkirche St. Michael” in Munich.
