About Klimt Quartet

The Klimt Quartet was founded in 1995 as a natural consequence of multiple experiences in music under Riccardo Cecchetti’s supervision at the famous Fiesole Music School. Its components were awarded prices in various national and international competitions and they form today one of the most talented youg group with their common interest in chamber music. Since 1997 the quartet’s components attended special advanced courses held by Maestri Canino, Sirbu and Filippini, founders of th well known Trio di Milano. From 2000 to 2003, they studied with Maestro Pier Narciso Masi at the Musical Accademy of Florence. In 1998 Quartetto Klimt won the first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition “G. Zinetti” in Sanguinetto (VR). Soon after few months of its formation, the quartet was invited to perform by “Rencontre Internationale des Enseignements Artistiques “ organized by le Marionette Institute in Charleville-Mezieres (France), by “ Festival of the Young Italian Orchestra in Aosta, by “Ater Festival” in Rimini and by “Elba Isola Musicale d’Europa” where in which occasion it attracted the attention of Yuri Bshmet. In the following yars, the group had a very active schedule performing at “Lingotto Musica” in Turin, “Bologna Festival”, Musica Insieme Bologna, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Amici della Musica di Perugia, Lingotto Musica di Torino, Auditorium di Milano, Ravello Festival, Festival Mozart di Rovereto; the quartet also had direct Radio and Video Broadcasts on RAI. In these very active years Quartetto Klimt has grown also due to the advise and support of great artists such has Carlo Maria Giulini, Natalia Gutman and Maurizio Pollini. In 1999 M° Maurizio Pollini invited Quartetto Klimt to perform at “Una vita nella Musica - Venezia 1999″ and in 2001 he gave to the quartet “Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli” prize. In April 2001 it opened the musical season “I Concerti del Quirinale” in Rome; on July 2001 the quartet was invited to perform by the prestigious Oleg Kagan Musikfest in Kreuth (Germany) and by the Spanish Escuela Reina Sofia in Santander.
