RIDDIM SELECKTA: In a city overflowing with talented DJs, Janaka’s skills were recognized by the San Francisco community in 2004 when he received the Reader’s Poll Award for Best DJ (SF Guardian). Bringing a dancer’s sensibility to the decks, Janaka deconstructs each track merging and beat juggling parts to build crescendoes and diminuendoes. Constantly working the tracks and the mixer to make any dancefloor bounce. His unique sound weaves original songs and homemade bootlegs with floor stomping tracks from around the planet. PRODUCER: With songs on the critically acclaimed 'Dhamaal Soundsystem' album, international releases on One World Music compilation 'Moving Stillness', tracks licensed to one of the hottest X-box 360 video games, ‘Project Gotham Racing 3’, and a major movie release, 'Hiding Vidya', Janaka is set to release his much anticipated full length album in 2006. Janaka's song writing has caught the ears of such legends as State of Bengal and Asian Dub Foundation's Dr. Das. Both of whom have musically collaborated with Janaka . Janaka’s ruff breakbeat tune, 'Bol Breaker', broke BBC Radio 1’s Bobby and Nihal’s Top 10 and 'Dhamaal Soundsystem' has broken the iTunes Top 20 Electronic Music Chart. REMIXER: In demand for his remix work, Janaka has remixed Asian Dub Foundation tracks from their 2005 release 'Tank' as well as remixes for Cheb i Sabbah and Karsh Kale soon to be released on Six Degrees Records.
