About James Franklin
James L. Franklin, Jr. was born December 29, 1989. His musical life started at an early age. James grew up in a neighborhood where two of the dominant forces were music and religion. He was heavily influenced by his grandfather, Calvin Leavy, who was a bass player for the renowned Zion Five. He's also nephew to the Fresno blues singer, Hosea Leavy. James got his start as keyboard player under the leadership of Pastor C.L. Kelly of the New Hope Baptist Church. He later became Minister of Music of United Baptist Church. When asked how he likes to spend his time, he responded, "I'm a minister, and I want to spread the good news of Jesus Christ." James was raised by his grandparents, Joyce and Lonnie Franklin, who were also very talented singers. James says the spiritual leaders in his life are his aunts, Teri Nicholson, Veronica Malvin and Pastor Al Montgumery of the Led by the Spirit Church."To all my family, I love you".
