Jacob Schedlich

About Jacob Schedlich

Jacob Schedlich (also listed as Jakob Schedlich/Schädlich; 1591–1669) was a Lutheran musician from St. Joachimsthal (Jáchymov) whose career combined work as an organist with activity as an organ builder and civic figure. Reference sources associate him with training under Hans Leo Hassler and record him as the brother of the composer-organist David Schedlich. A securely attested publication under his name is the 1613 Magnificat et intonationes precum vespertinarum for four voices, preserved in catalogues and available today from first-edition scans. In modern circulation, his Magnificat occasionally appears in specialist programming and online performances.
