First transmission from the newly minted Cultured imprint, heading off with this killer Hijak/Skream hookup. "Retro" on the a-side steers clear of the presets and opts for a refreshing hybrid of dubstep signatures and the kind of sinewy synth action most reminiscent of g-gunk/breaks/soul sessions. Breezy, developed and really quite great, a nice break from the darkcore fixation you'll all be familiar with. "Wake Up" on the flip is a more standard affair, but the bassline is incredibly heavy and the production is minimal enough to keep your interest however jaded you might have become with this kind of thing. Oh, and there are some nice Morricone-esque strings to boot. Limited copies.
