About Hamlets

Like the more famous Bintangs, Dutch beat band Hamlets hailed from the town of Beverwijk, The Netherlands, where they had a loyal fanclub that published a regular newsletter and even organised bus trips to the band's out-of-town gigs. Unfortunately the Hamlets' career stalled after just one single ('Looking In Your Eyes' b/w 'It's Autumn', 1966) when singer/guitarist Wim van der Leden and bassist Jean Koster were conscripted into the army. Drummer Frans Kroon joined Bintangs in 1967, but was sadly killed in a traffic accident that same year.
