About Goodbye Etc
Philadelphia, PA pop punk trio Goodbye Etc. write songs about boredom, alienation, and breakup, but make it all seem okay when combined with the band's sticky sweet melodies and upbeat music. Like the spunky lovechild of Green Day and Alkaline Trio, Goodbye Etc. bash out catchy tunes set to biting lyrics. Goodbye Etc. began in the summer of 2007 when drummer Gee Lima responded to a craigslist ad put up by vocalist/guitarist John Skyler. The two clicked instantly in terms of influences and work ethic (they'd both converged on Philadelphia to join "real" bands). Bassist TJ Baker came not long after, again responding to an online ad. With a full lineup in place (a trio is plenty), the band began working on the songs that would become Last Gasp, their debut EP. Together less than three months, but confident in their songs and sound, the band booked studio time at Soundmine Recording in rural East Stroudsburg, PA. Produced by Dan Malsch (Bigwig, Forever the Sickest Kids) and mixed and mastered by Paul Leavitt (Senses Fail, Circa Survive), Last Gasp is an eclectic collection of hooky down-on-your-luck punk rock. Songs like "Emergency Exit" and "Happily in Misery" are super catchy fan-dubbed singles about panic attacks and loserdom. With an EP they couldn't be prouder of, a rollicking live show, and an intense desire to be bigger than Wham!, Goodbye Etc. are hitting up any club they can and playing for any audience willing to listen and assaulting their ears with pop punk. -Paul Winston
