About George Sunday

George Kyriakakis, alias George Sunday, is a DJ/producer whose love for music since he was a child was a major factor in helping him gradually develop his skills in DJing. His understanding of rhythm, harmony and other important musical aspects, along with the musical studies he has undertaken, are the principal factors that motivate him to create his mixes in the best possible manner, in an attempt to please music listeners and dancers alike. George was born in Piraeus on August 14, 1988. At the age of 4, he played the piano for the very first time. As years went by, he became more and more interested in playing the piano, thanks to the mild and melodic sound that it produced; thus, he decided to start music lessons in piano and music theory at the age of 6, and he has been constantly involved in playing the piano since then. His devotion to playing the piano paid off in many situations, as he was awarded three big prizes in two Panhellenic and one World Piano Competition in 1999, 2000 and 2002, respectively. However, the most important moment in George's occupation with the piano was when he was awarded with a Piano Diploma by the National Conservatory of Athens, after participating in the respective Piano Diploma exams held in Athens on June 12, 2008. In 1998, George started his first harmony lessons. His gradual mastering of harmony was something that gradually increased his capability of improvising and composing songs, something for which he was later rewarded with the first prize in a Panhellenic Musical Composition Competition which was held in November 2003 in Volos. Until the age of 12, George was mostly listening to classical music and various tunes of the 50's and 60's. As he grew up, he started to discover new music styles, thanks to the various friendly relationships he had with many people who had been involved in these genres. Rock and jazz music were the two genres that pleased him the most. By playing rock and jazz songs along with other friends with which he formed various school bands, he felt that he could show a great sense of power and dynamism through the music he played. He continued to participate in concerts with school bands until his graduation from the high school division of the American College of Greece in 2006, before he entered the Mechanical Engineering Department of the National Technical University of Athens. Upon his graduation in 2006, the already adult George started to spend more time going to clubs and parties, as he had more time for such things. After listening to various dance songs and the way many DJs mixed it, he became addicted to dance music and felt that he could mix dance songs himself. Thus, his involvement in DJing started. George started spending much time in mixing songs, and his main aim was to play and mix up-to-date songs in the best possible manner in order to please the audience. His repertoire includes songs of all styles, from House and Disco to Rap, Hiphop and traditional dance songs. George has also started remixing some of the Greek and foreign songs that are being widely played in clubs around Greece. Through his remixes, he tries to add some spice to the feeling these songs try to convey and to get the audience up dancing to the beat. Apart from his remixes, George has recently started to get into musical production, something which he is very keen on, mainly thanks to the musical composition studies he has followed throughout his high school and university years. George has already played in various parties and events, including a number of ceremonies in the American College of Greece, in Athens. He is willing to build upon this success in order to achieve greater things in the future, in a music sector which he is very fond of.
