About Gee Gee & Soluna

One Man Band Gee Gee Kettel has been on the road as a professional street musician since 1980. He was first joined by his daughter Soluna on drums when she was five years old. In 2000 at the age of 10 she picked up bass guitar and started to sing. They have been touring around Europe as a father/daughter duo every summer since 1995. They have participated in many festivals and can be seen in the streets of Scandinavia, Germany, Italy and other countries. When they don't travel they live on the Island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, or, usually in wintertime, at Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Soluna Samay had her debut as recording artist playing drums and singing backup vocals at the age of 9 on the song "I've been everywhere" on Gee Gee Kettel's album "Roadsong". In 2000 Dagobert Böhm invited her to sing the song "I wish I was A Seagull" on his album "Sounds for A Blue Planet". It was later released as a CD Single on his label Ozella Records. In 2002 Ozella also released their first Duo CD "The Beat Goes On", with Soluna on Bass and additional vocals. The year 2004 saw their release of the album "Thinking Of You" which featured also some of their own songs. In 2006 they released the folkblues & roots album "Movin' On" with Soluna on stand-up Bass and vocals. Soluna also played doublebass on Gee Gee Kettel's 2007 Soloalbum" Lucky 7" and sang on the Cash/Carter classic: Jackson. For 2008 they have another Duo CD planned as well as a Cd of Soluna's own songs. Gee Gee & Soluna links: www.kettelbeat.com www.myspace.com/geegeeandsoluna
