About Franz Bak
Frans Bak (born 7 February 1958 ) is a Danish composer, bandleader, saxophonist and pianist. Student from Falkonergårdens High School 1976 and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 1980. After graduating from the academy and mid- 1980s Frans Bak was the keyboardist in various bands including Santa Cruz, Blast, & Buzstop. It was also during that period he slowly started compositing work for both film and television as well as various theater / musical setups. Until the turn of the millennium, he was conductor for many own musical groups, including The Blue Scream and Jazzgruppe90 and several show orchestras including Tommy Kenter, Per Pallesen, and Soren Pilmark. Chairman of the Danish Jazz Circuit 1994 - 1996 and initiator and leader of the composer group "The third way" in which rhythmic composers wrote for classical ensembles ( 1995 - 1998 ). To the public Frans Bak is best known for his music he has composed for the Danish Radio TV series Nikolaj & Julie and Forbrydelsen. He was also responsible for the music for the American version of Forbrydelsen, The Killing.
