About Felder's Orioles
Originally known as The Beat Society, Felder's Orioles (sometimes but less commonly spelled as Felders Orioles without the apostrophe) was a North London, United Kingdom R&B group that included a young John Halsey in their ranks, on his way to greater things with Timebox, Patto and The Rutles. Keys player Barry Hubband sang lead on what is perhaps the group's most successful recording: their July 1965 cover version of 'Down Home Girl' by Leiber and Butler, which also features the band's trademark twin sax assault by Pete Newman and Rod Mealeston. They issued four singles in total: two in 1965, two in 1966.
