Faith Brown was born in Liverpool in 1944. In the 1960s, she was the lead singer of The Carrolls, a vocal group which consisted of four of her brothers. They released five singles, starting with 'Surrender Your Love,' and an album. Embarking on a solo career at the start of the 1970s, her first single was 'Lock Me In,' released in 1970, and her last was the disco-flavoured 'Bingo' in 1975. In total, Faith released six singles. She made a brief return to the recording studio as one of the celebrities to take part in the 'Doctor Who' related 'Doctor in Distress,' released in 1985 for charity. By then, Faith was well-established as an Impressionist. She appeared in comedy sketches with Ken Dodd on his BBC series 'Ken Dodd's World of Laughter,' and did impressions on ITV's 'Who Do You Do?' show. Her 1978 TV special, 'The Faith Brown Awards', was followed by a six-week series for ITV called 'The Faith Brown Chat Show', where she played every guest, including Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, Margaret Thatcher and Zsa Zsa Gabor. In 1980, she was voted 'The Funniest Woman on TV' by TV Times readers. Throughout the 1980s, Faith was a regular presence on popular shows like 'Give Us a Clue', 'Punchlines!', and 'Blanketly Blank.' Her first straight role was as Flast in the 1985 'Doctor Who' story 'Attack of the Cybermen.' In 1996, she played Anne Bradley in seven episodes of the Channel 4 soap opera 'Brookside.' From 2001 to 2002, she won critical acclaim for her portrayal of Norman Desmond in a national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Sunset Boulevard.' In 2006, she took part in ITV's 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.' One of her last jobs was playing The Voice in the children's game show 'Trapped!' from 2009 to 2010.
