About Eye Kandy

For nearly 10 years coldwave act Eye Kandy made a name for themselves around the tri-state area industrial scene with energetic and engaging live performances, as well as skillfully crafted songs. The band released a self-titled 4 song demo in 1997, with the production help of NYC industrial powerhouse Neuroplague. The demo (which has become known as "The Headcleaner Demo" by fans, named after the studio it was recorded in) gained the band a solid fan base and secured concerts at many of NJ/NYC/PA's most acclaimed venues. However, the band would gain its most success in 1999 with the release of a 6 song CD EP titled Dream Kill Dream. The CD showed the bands growth in musicianship, and was praised by not only critics, but fans, and fellow musicians alike. The single "Taken" scored top 10 places in RPM charts around the USA beating out many of the industrial scenes most popular and signed artists, and the band was interviewed as well as received regular rotation on 89.5 WSOU, New Jersey's biggest alternative radio station. Within the 2 years that would follow, the band would play with such notable acts as Decoded Feedback, Kevorkian Death Cycle, Society 1, Bile, The Clay People, Drown, Mindless Faith and Belle Morte, as well as play in such areas as New Orleans, Virginia, Philadelphia, New York City, and their home state of New Jersey. At the end of 2002, changes within the band forced the project to become dormant, as guitarist Chris, and bassist Jen left the band to pursue other projects, and drummer Tom joined Bile and Godhead and accompanied both bands on several national tours. Kaliss and James continued to write music under the Eye Kandy banner and during that time the two would compose close to 20 finished songs, as well as countless unfinished peices of music. Now, 5 years later, The original members of Eye Kandy in collaboration with NYC Based record Label Primordial Music have chosen to unearth the recordings that would have been Eye Kandy's full length album and release them under the name Erasing The Past in March of 2007. These are the rough demos Kaliss and James worked on while the band was on a public hiatus, now available for the first time, remastered and compiled as a retrospective release. The music on this release showcases the growth and maturity of the song writing skills, as teenage rage became focused aggression, and depression became introspective self exploration, an audio diary of a band falling apart, and of dreams coming to an end. After listening to this compilation of works, one can only wonder what heights the band could have accomplished if only fate had played a different hand, But now Erasing The Past only serves to the band as the title suggests, cleaning the slate so it's members can start pursuing new dreams for the future.
