About Equestrian Electronic
I am a multi-instrumentalist and a BA Music student from Liverpool studying at The University of Liverpool. I have been creating electronic music since the late 1990's, although I am mainly a Bass guitarist. I have been heavly influenced by electronic music from an early age. My Father used to play me Jean Michelle Jarre, Tomita and Vangelis records at the tender age of five, in the mid 1970's. I began playing guitar at a very early age and whilst at high school in the late 1980's, I began playing bass guitar in a heavy metal band with some of my school friends. In the early 1990's I took an interest in playing rock flute after becoming a fan of bands such as Jethro Tull and Early Genesis. It was at this point that I gained a love for 1970's prog rock. Since my heavy metal days I have played in a number of bands over the years mainly as a bassist but in some instances as a flute player. Listening to electronic music for me, as I have stated began at an early age, but I began to listen to more modern digital artists such as William Orbit in the mid 1990's. My biggest electronic influences are Jean Michelle Jarre, Vangelis, Tomita, Orbital, The Egg, Afro Celt Sound System, William Orbit and many more. I am constantly progressing as an electronic artist and I am excited to present my new album, Ascending. This album has been produced with a new setup of studios and outboard equipment. I feel this is the apex of my composing skills, yet I hope to keep evolving in this musical genre. I find electronic, (or digital), music quite fascinating and I am highly motivated by my musical influences and apart from electronic bands, I find other music very inspiring, such as bands like Pink Floyd, Early Genesis, Jethro Tull, Marillion, Frank Zappa, the Smashing Pumkins, Led Zeppelin, Radio Head, Peter Gabriel, Neil Young and lots more guitar based bands. (Too many to mention here). As I am influenced by these various genre, I like to mix my electronic music with guitars, and as you will notice on one track, the flute. I am playing all the instruments, but I am planning on collaborating with other musicians in the near future. As I have been trained for four years at college, I like to compose my music with a classical edge, using classic and romantic chord sequences. I find mixing this style of writing with electronic instruments and studios works extremely well. My ideal job is to compose for TV, Film and the computer gaming industry, such as Playstation and XBox. I feel that wherever it may take me, I will always have a passion for this style of music as it stems from my childhood.
